An automatically-updated index of free-online short SF & fantasy — magazines, zines and audio venues. The goal is to help you keep up with what's being published, so you're well-read by awards season. We link out; you read on the original site.
How it works
Quasar follows the RSS/Atom feeds of the short-fiction ecosystem, normalizes each new story into a structured record, and presents a fast, filterable, mobile-first index. We show metadata and a short excerpt and then send you to the publisher to read — the magazine gets the click.
Sorting
- Hot — recent stories we think are most worth your attention right now.
- Newest — everything in strict order of publication date.
- Acclaimed — the most award- and critically-recognized work, across all years.
Filtering
Open Filters to narrow by length (short story, novelette, novella), eligibility year, genre, venue, or to search by title or author. The default view is short stories, the most-nominated length.
Coverage & caveats
Coverage is automated from venue feeds, focused on free online short fiction. The print magazines that publish little or nothing free online are necessarily under-represented. Quasar is not affiliated with any publication; it stores metadata and excerpts only.
